Littlehampton Beach Pre-Wedding Photoshoot – Neil & Clare

You may recall last Saturday’s weather? In one subtly understated word it was COLD!! That however did not put the gorgeous Neil & Clare off of their Littlehampton Beach pre-wedding photoshoot. I was beyond excited to get wrapped up warm and head to the beach, one of my favourite places for a portrait session. I appreciate that sounds like it is tinged with sarcasm, but I genuinely love those crisp, cold winter days especially when the sun pops out (which it did!) and whilst we had originally anticipated March being more Spring like, it worked out perfectly.

When Neil and Clare first got in contact to discuss their wedding, I knew it was meant to be. They had spent the previous Christmas (2015) in New York, and low and behold were there at the exact same time as Ash and I, we were even staying in the same hotel! What a shame we didn’t know this at the time! Neil popped the question on that trip and had I known, I would have whisked them to Central Park for some photos! Ash and I also got engaged in the Big Apple back in 2003, so I felt we had the most perfect common ground and when they started telling me about their wedding day, I was super keen to be involved, I was so happy when they booked!

Clare and I were emailing at the end of last week, looking at weather reports and working out if we should go ahead or put our shoot back, but when we saw it was going to be dry, I suggested we go for it – as long as they were happy to wrap up warm and prepared to get a little (a lot) chilly!

So at 9am on Saturday morning we met at Littlehampton Beach which is one of my favourite places and turns out to be one of theirs too, as they regularly visit the seaside town in the summer months. As always I want my clients to be prepared for what to expect so we had chatted in advance but I re-iterated that the purpose of the shoot was for them to relax, enjoy themselves and for us to get a feel for how things will pan out on the wedding day.

We started on the beach, with some snuggly shots of them and it became quickly apparent that whilst these two are totally and utterly loved up, they are clearly the best of friends too. Laughter ensued from the start and I adapted what I was photographing to incorporate lots of playful shots alongside the romantic ones.  On more than one occasion I ended up in stitches too and I can already feel how fun their wedding will be, in addition to being the perfect celebration of their love.

We did some shots on the promenade and in the ‘UK’s longest bench‘ art installation which I always find fascinating to look at and am mildly obsessed with 🙂

We finished up back on the beach with some stone skimming and piggy-backing, as their personalities lent themselves too well to not!

I’m thrilled to share a few of the final photos with you below, and if you’re interested in a couples photoshoot or wedding photography yourself, do not hesitate to have a browse around my website and email lucy@candyflossandbowties.com for more information.
