Party Hot Tubs Photoshoot Southwick, West Sussex

When Tim contacted me recently about taking a few pictures for his new business venture, Party Hot Tubs, I jumped at the chance! I first met Tim through my Brother a few years ago, he is an incredibly talented musician (amongst other things) and I hired his band, The Alice Band, for an event, they were absolutely fantastic!

Then last year, Tim surprised his partner Cath and her daughters, Lucy and Izzy with a photoshoot, details of which you can read about here. This was followed up by him purchasing a beautiful framed collage of pictures from the shoot as a surprise Christmas present for Cath, so you could say that I like this man LOTS! (and Cath too of course!).

Cath had spoken with other parent-friends who volunteered their children’s services for a Saturday morning back in February and as luck would have it, the sun was shining down on us. (I like to think that was courtesy of my Dad who had photographed Tim’s band before he passed away, call me crazy, I know!).

So up we pitched, gear in hand, with a bunch of excitable kiddies splashing about in the hot tub. The hot tub that they have invested in can be rented out for weekends, a brilliant idea for parties, get-togethers, hen-do’s, children’s birthdays or romantic weekends for two. They deliver the tub to you on a Thursday, and collect it again on the following Tuesday. All you need is a suitable flat space, a water supply with a hose and a 13amp power point. It takes around 2 hours to fill the tub and 24-30 hours to reach the optimal bathing temperature of 37 degrees. The hot tub has 130 jets and can accommodate 5/6 adults or up to 8 children. A whole weekend of hot tub fun is only £150, which I think is a total bargain and am totally thinking about my own birthday in June!

Tim & Cath were after a few images that could be used on their new website and their Facebook page. I spent some time researching their competitors prior to the shoot and knew what other companies were offering in terms of photography which enabled me to think a little differently. Whilst I knew it would be good to have action shots, which is my preferred style of photography anyway (very natural, unposed and candid), I also used Pinterest to brainstorm a few setups and asked Cath if she could provide a few props for me, such as a bottle of Champagne and a couple of glasses, so that I could do a ‘romance’ theme. I also took along a few of our popular photobooth props for the kids to play with too.

There’s only so many ways you can photograph a big tub of water, so Nick and I put our creative skills to the test and I think the end results were really good. It’s great to see the images already in use on their FB page and website, and I hope they help to bring lots of business their way!

I had a lovely message from Tim last night thanking us for the photographs again, which is always such a nice validation. We’d just like to say Thank YOU too Tim & Cath for asking us to do this for you and we wish you every success with your exciting new venture!
