Sussex wedding styling to give your day the wow factor

So there I was, surfing the web when I stumbled across a post by one of my local bridal shops (White Dresses & Tiaras) that caught my eye! It was a photo of some fantastic illuminated letters that had been set-up in their window and they looked amazing! I immediately needed to know who was responsible for this creative wedding styling and how I could contact them.

A little Facebook stalking (I would like to stress I do not class this as part of my skill-set, although it is handy on occasion…) led me to the girls at ‘Not Your Average I Do’ and I felt compelled to message them and introduce myself. I was already drawn in by the photo and their business name, and a look at their Facebook page, and website just screamed ‘You need to work with this company Lucy!’ – I knew our brands would be a good match and I have been on the hunt for a while, for creative connections in the area. I see so much of the ‘usual’ styling, the drapes, the white chair covers with ‘your colour of sash’ and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I pride Candy Floss & Bow Ties on being a little cool and creative and as such, thrive on finding others with the same vision.

Further down the page you’ll see photos of their fantastic products that they hire out for weddings, the rustic sweet table is super, as are the ‘Pimp Your Pimms’ bar and the ‘Whiskey & Cigar’ bar but SO much more than the cool products, are the girls themselves. I am always drawn to people and if I like the person, I buy into the service and with their personalities, organisation skills and extensive experience, you are guaranteed to be in safe hands.

We arranged to meet each other in person, and after a couple of hours had to drag ourselves away, I think we could have sat talking all day, bouncing ideas for styled shoots and business opportunities around. I instantly found both Kelly and Sara to be warm, open and a pleasure to work with and I am VERY excited about our future collaboration ideas.

I asked them to write an introductory blog post for me, so I can introduce you to what they do, so you can see their work for yourself, as I know you’ll love it. Watch this space for regular updates from what’s going on in the world of wedding styling & event co-ordination, they have some fantastic stories to share.

The images are courtesy of Not Your Average I Do and I can only try and convey my excitement over photographing all these lovely props myself, which will be happening in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

So without further gushing from me, here’s Sara & Kelly…!

“We love talking all things weddings but that doesn’t mean they all have to be the same! Who says your day has to be in any particular order? that you have to sit in the ‘correct’ places, cut a cake, have a first dance or have a speech by the groom (and not the bride)! It’s your day – your way!

There are many great traditions of a wedding day, but it is finding the traditions that fit you both as a couple and tweaking elements to create your ideal special day. We like to guide our couples towards styling options that suit them, their budget and how much they want to be involved in creating their look.

With the growing use of social media in our day to day lives, peoples expectations and visions of their special day have grown and grown. Pintrest can be both a blessing and a curse! We love it, but it is an easy way of setting your expectations too high. Brides see creative floral displays, amazing wedding venues and interesting backdrop ideas which may seem effortless and easy to recreate but in many cases cost a fortune, take ages to set up with an army of stylists.

We started Not Your Average I Do to help these creative brides. With over 25 years event management experience in the capital and working with Royalty, Celebrities and in some of the top venues, we have the experience and knowledge to help you turn your vision into a reality in a cost effective way.

We love seeing the look on a couples faces when they see their vision come to life! Be it the gorgeous table displays, the beautiful aisle as the bride takes her last steps as a Miss, or the fun party area in the evening to celebrate and dance the night away. We love creating something new and different!

Your wedding should be all about the bride and groom, their love and hopes for the future. No two weddings we get involved with are the same.

We cant wait to work with Candy Floss and Bow Ties on our next photo shoot to help inspire our bride and grooms and show people what we can do!”

Thank you Sara & Kelly!
